I would like to welcome everyone to my new Website and to this Blog. The site has under gone some major changes in the past few weeks. Everything from the new looks to new a hosting company. The changes have been positive for the most part and I'm looking forward to getting back to work for you.

In the coming weeks I want to start posting golf tips. Things like getting some more distance off the tee or putting spin on the ball around the greens. I'll also be posting golf rules for your review. Sometimes we take things for granted and don't remember exactly how to proceed in certain situations. I'm hoping that this will help you out especially if you are new to the game.

I live in the Okanagan Valley, in a town called Westbank. The Okanagan Valley is in British Columbia's interior. It's world famous for the wine that is produced here. But the thing that I love about the valley is all the awesome golf courses. So in the coming weeks I am going to start writing course reviews for you. There are literally dozens of courses that I know you would love to play. By writing these course reviews for you I hope to make your decision of where to play a little easier. That is if you should decide to visit this beautiful part of Canada. If you already live here well maybe the reviews will help you find your new favorite track to play.

So come back often and see what’s new.

Here is your first golf tip;

Grip down on Approach shots

By Padraig Harrington

It’s very rare that you need to hit a shot full out from 130 to 150 yards – yet that’s a fault common among amateurs. Most club golfers would do much better by easing off now and again, and the way to that is to grip the club down the shaft a little.

This makes it a lot easier to hit a nice, controlled shot, especially in the wind, as it takes spin off the ball and moves it through the breeze rather than ballooning upwards and deviating left or right.

When I go down the shaft I feel it’s a mental key to tell me I've got plenty of club in my hands, and to focus on making a smooth, rhythmical swing. It tends to take five yards off my normal shot, and the ball doesn't  bite much on the green, but overall I feel I can control the distance better.

  1. Grip down the shaft for greater control
  2. Focus on making a nice smooth rhythmical swing
