Where to Golf | iPhone App Review
“Where to Golf” it’s a Burning Question | We have the Answer
Where to Golf, such a difficult question for us golf lovers. If you’ve ever felt the urge to get out on the links and play a round while travelling or you just want to find new courses in your area. Then there is a solution out there waiting for you. The Where to Golf app for the iPhone and iPod Touch gives you all the information about a golf course and how to get there.
Just in time for the new season, Carpe Diem Ventures have just launched a new version that showcases a golf themed design.
While I was in San Diego last week I felt like playing a quick game. As I had just purchased an iPhone I thought that instead of picking up the phone book I would try the Where to Golf application.
Within seconds it displayed dozens of courses near my current location. There was an 18 hole course equipped with a driving range, and carts. There was even a twilight special on. Best of all it was only 4 miles away, so far so good.
That was just the tip of the iceberg, after selecting Bonita Golf Course from the list, a new screen called ‘Home’ displayed detailed information on the course such as the current weather conditions, prices, tee box information and even a link to the website.
Along the bottom of the screen were more buttons: Call, Home, Details, Maps, and Review.
Pressing the “Details” button gives you an extensive amount of information everything from rental prices to earliest tee time and even grass type.
With the touch of the “Call” button I was able to phone the Pro-Shop and book a tee time.
Finally, the Map button gave me GPS directions to the course; good thing too because the rental car didn’t have a map. As you can see in a matter of minutes I had found a great course near me that fit my needs, booked a tee time and was given directions to get there.
It’s easy to see that the creators of the Where to Golf application love the game; the detail they’ve put into it is unmatched. It’s well designed and easy to use; the navigation is fluid and easy to pick up.
The application holds over 19,000 courses in the United States and each one has detailed information ranging from categories such as access, rentals, training facilities, amenities, design & layout. If that isn’t enough for you to pick a course then the Where to Golf app also has a review system created by other users.
If you’re planning a trip and looking to play some golf but are not in that area it’s not a problem. You can search for places to play near your current location or by city name, zip code or by the course name. Another feature that makes your searching easier is that you can exclude private tracks in the settings option.
Within seconds you’ll have everything you need to plan a game of golf. If you own an iPhone or an iPod Touch and play golf, a $1.99 is definitely worth it for the Where to Golf app.
